Description
Bronze birds, designed as "touch-sculptur" for blind people, first made commissioned by Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam. The birds, a razor-bill, puffin and two guillemots with chicks, are situated near the entrance from the newly build Oceanium. Even a blind person has to be able to sense and touch the contours of the birds; hence the expression "touch-sculpture".
For this commission Eric Odinot has first modelled the birds in clay, made moulds, which formed the base for wax-models and use those to have the birds cast into bronze, with a green patina.
A sequence of the works can be seen on workprocess.
You can order the different birds separately or as the total group.
